Here's a thought about being black: Stop being black. Stop reminding me. I'm tired of it. You sound like you're asking for pity. And it's like wanting to be cherised because of some physical trait that has nothing to do with who you are. Remind me that you're a teacher, or a dock worker or a bank teller or whatever. You don't need to tell me you're black. I can figure that out easily enough. It's like hanging a kick-me sign on your back. What are you really?
